WAUSAUKEE — The Wausaukee Rangers enter the upcoming football season seeking to rebound from a rebuilding year, leaning on a young core and a return to familiar conference territory.
Wausaukee finished fifth in the conference last season with a 1-4 record and finished 2-6 overall, scoring 181 total points while giving up 400.
Head coach Kurt Stumbris noted that the program is navigating a stretch heavy on underclassmen following significant roster turnover.
“Last year was rough,” Stumbris said. “We lost a lot of guys the year before that. Now we had to start a lot of young guys, and we’re still starting a lot of young guys. We don’t have a lot of upperclassmen at all.”
The current roster features 14 players in camp, consisting of one senior, two juniors, and a large contingent of freshmen and sophomores. Another senior is expected to rejoin the team following Army Reserve training.
