Carol J. Gretzon, 79, of Lena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024 with family by her side. She was born on June 28, 1945 in Lena to the late Ervin and Margaret (Johnson) Hueckstaedt. She was united in marriage to Ronald Gretzon on January 18, 1964. Together, they celebrated 60 years of their loving marriage.
Carol was raised in Lena on the family farm with 2 older brothers and attended Lena School. She moved to Milwaukee after high school and returned a few years later to take over the farm with her husband Ron. In 1978 they built Lena Lanes and successfully ran their business for 24 years making many life-long friends and great memories along the way. Upon her retirement, she loved riding her Harley Davidson.
Following Ron’s taillight, they would leave for months traveling all over the countryside hitting every state except Hawaii, Alaska and Maine. Carol had also enjoyed snowmobiling in her younger years and did very well competing in many races on her Arctic Cat. Entertaining and cooking was definitely her passion as she made sure everyone that walked through her door was always fed and left laughing. She especially enjoyed her weekends making the family buttermilk pancakes, attending every motocross race she possibly could and cheering everyone on.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 60 years; Ron, two children; Lori (Al) Gundrum, Lynette (Darin) Dionne, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter; Lisa Gretzon and two brothers; Ronald and Robert Huecksteadt.
The family would like to thank Froedtert Hospital and a special thank you to Unity Hospice.
Per Carol’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Carol’s wishes were to have a celebration of her life which will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Lena Lanes 201 W. Harley St. Lena, WI.
