Peshtigo Historical Day 2026.Veterans with the Peshtigo VFW 8813 honor guard led the parade route carrying the American flag and veterans organization colors during the annual Peshtigo Historical Day festivities on Saturday, Sept. 26. Spectators lined the streets to watch the procession, which featured other local veterans, civic groups and community floats honoring the area.
Local members from Coleman’s American Legion Post 280 and Peshtigo’s American Legion Post 312 rode through the city during Peshtigo Historical Day. Spectators showed their support while honoring the service and sacrifices of area military veterans as a key tradition of the annual gathering.
Peshtigo Historical Society members and volunteers donned period-accurate clothing to carry the Peshtigo Historical Society banner during the annual parade. The banner highlighted the Great Peshtigo Fire on Oct. 8, 1871, which is remembered as the deadliest wildfire in American history.
Generations of local families came together to celebrate traditions during the annual Peshtigo Historical Day parade. From modern fire trucks to restored classic cars and vintage tractors, the procession showcased a wide array of vehicles that represented the area's rich history.
Community organizations brought their energy to the parade and highlighted local arts and entertainment events. Marching bands from Peshtigo and Marinette played songs, dancers from Studio 170 performed and the Bayshore Arts Center Children’s Theatre highlighted upcoming showings of “The Spongebob Musical.”
After the parade, historical reenactors took Badger Park back to the French and Indian War era of the 1700s. Complete with authentic clothing and tools, they showed how families and soldiers lived, gave historic food demonstrations and answered questions about life from centuries ago.
In addition to the parade, the day's events featured local vendors and artisans that gathered in the park for a craft fair. Owners of The Book Nook, sisters Deanna and Jacilyn Knight, came by to showcase their latest work, “Fall Leaves and Apple Trees.”.Gracelyn Giese photos
