Marinette School District celebrates Wisconsin School Board Week

Posted

MARINETTE – The Wisconsin Association of School Boards has designated Oct. 4 through Oct. 10 as Wisconsin School Board Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the important role elected school boards play in our communities.

The Marinette School District is proud to join public school districts across Wisconsin in celebrating Wisconsin School Board Week and honoring local board members for their dedication to the Marinette community and, most importantly, its children.

“The district’s schools play a vital role in our community, and our board members are committed to helping support the growth and achievement of our students,” superintendent Matt Smith said.

“Our board members commit their time and attention to thoughtfully making decisions to guide the district. We are appreciative of their dedication and service.”

The work of a school board is essential to creating an environment where students can thrive. The board has many responsibilities including providing oversight for administration and the district, approving policies, adopting a budget aligned with district priorities and advocating for the district on a local, state and national level.

“As representatives of the community, our board members play a pivotal role in giving voice to all.” Smith said.

“October gives us a special opportunity to recognize and to thank them for their commitment and service throughout the entire year.”

Please join the district in expressing thanks to the school board members for all of the work they do to serve the students, staff and community.
