Marinette County Fair Award Ceremony results

MARINETTE COUNTY – The Marinette County Fair held its award ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 25, in the show ring at the fairgrounds. 

The following is a list of those winners honored:

DAIRY

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Drea VanDeWalle, Beaver Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club; Intermediate – Brady Charapata, Merry Go Getters 4-H Club; and, Senior – Abby Charapata, also from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club.  Winners received trophies sponsored by United Cooperative.

CLUB HERD AWARDS:  Large Herd – 1st place went to Beaver Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club; and, 2nd to Merry Go Getters 4-H Club.  Small Herd – 1st place went to Coleman FFA.  Winning clubs receive money from the Marinette County Fair Association.

PRODUCTION:  Mackenzie Carlson, from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club, took Top Butterfat, Top Milk Production and Top Protein.  Rosettes sponsored by the Marinette County Fair Association were handed out prior to the ceremony.

OUTSTANDING EXHIBITOR:  Mitchell VanDeWalle, from Beaver Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club, received a plaque sponsored by Hoppe Dairy.

BEST FITTED HOLSTEIN:  Under 2 Years – Alisa Finger, from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club, received a trophy sponsored by the Marinette County Holstein Association.

BEST FITTED COLORED BREED:  Under 2 Years – Alivia Finger, from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club, received a trophy sponsored by Patricia Kessler; and Over 2 Years – Mackenzie Carlson, also from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club, received a trophy sponsored by Associated Bank.

SUPREME SHOWMAN went to Abby Charapata, Merry Go Getters 4-H Club; and, Reserve went to Brady Charapata, also from Merry Go Getters 4-H Club.  Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

BEEF

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Cooper DeClark, with Nelligan Lake 4-H Club; Intermediate – Peyton VanDeWalle, with Beaver Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club; and Senior – Courtney DenRuyter, with Coleman FFA.  Winners received trophies sponsored by United Cooperative.

SUPREME SHOWMAN: went to Courtney DenRuyter, Coleman FFA; and Reserve went to Charli Broderick, from Forever Green 4-H Club.  Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

SWINE

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Alivia Finger, with Merry Go Getters 4-H Club; Intermediate – Lily Grady, with Nelligan Lake 4-H Club; and Senior – Myia Darga, with Coleman FFA.  Winners received trophies sponsored by Peshtigo Veterinary Clinic.

SUPREME SHOWMAN went to Myia Darga, with Coleman FFA; and Reserve went to Lily Grady, with Nelligan Lake 4-H Club.  Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

SHEEP

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Angela Hemstock, with Golden Opportunity 4-H; Intermediate – Landon Dura, Merry Go Getters 4-H Club; and Senior – Wyatt Dunkes, Badger Buds 4-H Club.  Winners received trophies sponsored by Peshtigo Veterinary Service.

SUPREME SHOWMAN went to Emilie Gerken, from Middle Inlet Moonshiners 4-H Club; and Reserve went to Wyatt Dunkes, with Badger Buds 4-H Club.  Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

GOATS

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Keion Brown, with Merry Go Getters 4-H Club; Intermediate – Lily Steinbrecher, with Badger Buds 4-H Club; and, Senior – Owen Dunkes, also from Badger Buds 4-H Club.  Keion and Lily received trophies sponsored by Winterset Farms, and Owen received a trophy sponsored by Associated Bank.

SUPREME SHOWMAN went to Owen Dunkes, with Badger Buds 4-H Club; and Reserve went to Lily Steinbrecher, also from Badger Buds 4-H Club.  Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

FAIR SUPREME SHOWMAN – HORSE – GRAND CHAMPION – Kaylie Dessart, with Merry Go Getters 4-H Club, received a buckle and chair.  The buckle was sponsored by USW Local 146, Dr. Greneveld, Dr. Lindsay Whaley Back in Balance Chino, and Dr, Pultz, dentist.  The chair was sponsored anonymously.

POULTRY

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Riley Volling, Badger Buds 4-H Club; Intermediate – Macie DeSmidt, Beaver Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club; and, Senior – Callum Rickaby, Golden Opportunity 4-H Club.  Northern Poultry, Pigeon and Rabbit Club (NPPRC) sponsored the trophies.

SUPREME SHOWMAN went to Callum Rickaby, with Golden Opportunity 4-H Club. Supreme Showmen banners were hung in the animal stalls of the winners during the Fair.

RABBIT

SHOWMANSHIP:  Beginner – Kayl Ellie, Stargazers 4-H Club; Intermediate – Grace Hemstock, Golden Opportunity 4-H Club; and, Senior – Callum Rickaby, Golden Opportunity 4-H Club.  All three winners received trophies sponsored by the Wisconsin State Rabbit Breeders.

CAT

SHOWMANSHIP:  Junior – Marshall Kahles, Middle Inlet Moonshiners 4-H Club; Intermediate – Mara Seefeldt, Forever Green 4-H Club; and, Senior - Breanna Klimek, Merry Go Getters 4-H Club.  Each received a trophy from an anonymous donor.

COMMERCIAL BOOTHS

The following vendors were judged and awarded rosettes by the Marinette County Fair Association:

INSIDE VENDOR:  1st – Candy Bar; 2nd – Pure Romance; 3rd – Tupperware; and, 4th – Alf’s Tie Dyed Tee’s Plus

OUTSIDE VENDOR:  1st – Twisted Dixy’s Traveling Emporium; 2nd – WASA; 3rd – D’s Face Painting; and, 4th – Fabian.

The following youth were selected by fair judges in the respective departments at the County Fair to have an opportunity to enter their project at the Wisconsin State Fair next year. Chosen Youth received a special rosette indicating the special honor.
