Enjoy flowage beauty with Peshtigo River Rentals

Posted

PESHTIGO - Those looking for fun on the water this summer can find a new way to slow down and enjoy the serenity of the flowages in Crivitz.

Located at Boat Landing 9 on the Caldron Falls Reservoir and Boat Landing 1 on the High Falls Reservoir, Peshtigo River Rentals offers self-service kayak rental stations that allow for easy scheduling and easy water fun.

“We know that not everyone is able to own kayaks or transport them to the area, so having these rentals bridges that gap, and provides a way for those who want to be out on water to have the means to do so,” said Todd and Angie Prange, owners of Peshtigo River Rentals. “Being self-serve, customers are able to easily book online when it is most convenient for them and their schedule. Appointments can be booked multiple days in advance, allowing for not only the scheduling but also their appointment time to fit in when it best works for them.”

The Pranges started their self-service kayak business last year with the intention of allowing others to be able to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the flowages as much as they do.
“Getting out on the water has always been something our family has enjoyed doing, whether it be fishing, tubing, or kayaking. It allows us to slow down and spend time outside during the summer,” they said.

What began as one location with a hope to spread the joy of water appreciation has quickly grown into something more.

“Working closely with the local DNR, we were able to open a second location this year at Boat Landing 1 in addition to our original location at Boat Landing 9,” the Pranges said. “Next year we intend to open a third location at Boat Landing 13. Having these various locations provides discovery of different areas of the flowage.”

The booking process begins on the Peshtigo River Rentals website, where customers can choose a time and date to explore available products. A confirmation email sent after the order is placed will contain a PIN code needed to unlock the kayaks onsite. Orders can be made as early as 15 minutes before a booking time.

Once at the kayak station, any button on the lock can be pressed to wake it before entering the PIN code to open the lock and release the attached cable. An additional PIN code will be provided to open the lock on the locker containing paddles and life vests.

It is recommended that two people remove and carry the kayak to the water once the lock has been released.

After a customer returns with their kayaks, gear must be locked back in the same manner it was found, using the same PIN code as before to reopen the lock before confirming they have returned by clicking the “End Booking” button found in the confirmation email.

The Pranges remind everyone to make sure they follow all Wisconsin DNR boating regulations while using the kayaks.

Pricing for kayak rentals stand at $18 an hour for a single kayak, and $25 an hour for a double tandem kayak.
