DW3 Construction celebrates community with state award win

Posted

CRIVITZ – After winning their second whole house remodel award, DW3 Construction of Crivitz is celebrating not just the houses they have completed, but the family and community it has built along the way.

DW3 Construction’s roots go back to early 2013, where the business began with “a second-hand pickup, a few essential tools and a leap of faith,” according to owner Delbert Wendt III on the company website.

In the years following, the business would work towards numerous upgrades, including the purchase of a 16-foot tool trailer in 2014 and the hiring of its first employee and additional foreman in 2016. “Our philosophy was simple: take care of our team,” Wendt wrote.

“I had worked for companies where raises only came when employees threatened to leave, and I vowed never to operate that way. We invested in our crew, and in return, they invested in our mission.”

While working to establish his business in the community, Wendt was also establishing a family. By 2020, Wendt had not only given life to DW3 Construction, but also welcomed three sons with his wife, Allison.

Every new addition — to the inventory and to the family — allowed for the team to step into full-scale home building. Eventually, they were able to take on more ambitious projects, like constructing full custom houses and conducting full-scale remodels — one of which secured the business’s second whole house remodel award.

Now on a two-year winning streak, DW3 Construction’s second win was awarded for their transformation of an existing ranch home into a more refined and modern rustic home. The remodel features natural stone, vaulted ceilings, custom cabinetry and quartz surfaces.

The award was presented by the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA), a trade association made up of 20 local associations around the state committed to helping their communities grow.

Every year, the WBA presents their Badger Craftsman Awards, which recognize new home development, construction and remodeling excellence. WBA members submit their top projects for a variety of different categories, where they then go through a month-long period of public voting to determine the winners.

“These awards shine a spotlight on the skill, creativity and innovation of our members,” said WBA Executive Director Brad Boycks in a press release. “We are honored to recognize their efforts and continued leadership in advancing the building industry throughout Wisconsin.”

This year, the public once again placed their votes for DW3 Construction in the whole house remodel category.

“It just shows that we have a lot of community based followers,” Wendt said. “The community kind of has our back. That’s really what it is.”

The support doesn’t just go one way, Wendt added. DW3 Construction makes a habit of supporting its community, too.

“Our team is deeply involved in local initiatives, supporting the Twin Bridge Ski Team through donations and meat raffles. We proudly sponsor local tee-ball teams, construct benches for youth baseball fields and have built concession stands at the local high school for the Crivitz Wolverines Sports Booster Club. Additionally, we support cheerleaders who compete at the state level, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed… Giving back to the community that has supported us from the beginning is an essential part of our mission,” he wrote online.

With new local homes coming up this year, DW3 Construction has plenty more beautiful projects to fill the community with.

“Our focus is just to help people bring their vision to life,” Wendt said. “We’re local, and we’re here to help the community.”
