The summer Olympics have wrapped for the 2024 Paris games. Athletes from all over the world converged in France to try and achieve their childhood dreams of earning a gold, silver or bronze medal. On July 20-21 athletes from all over the United States gathered together for the State Games of America in San Diego, California. This included four local athletes from Coleman who took some of their first steps of achieving their track and field goals. After medaling at the Badger State games in Wausau, WI, the brothers of Dawson, Dayton, and Darion Patz and Kolton Peters qualified for the State Games of America held in San Diego. All three Patz boys competed in the 100M and 200M, with Dayton also doing the long jump. Kolton Peters competed in the 110M high hurdles, 400M hurdles, 200M and the long jump. All four student-athletes from Coleman represented Wisconsin well! Dawson got 5th place in the 100M and 4th place in the 200M. His brother Dayton got 5th place in the 100M as well, along with a 2nd place medal in the long jump. Kolton Peters got a 3rd place medal in the 110M hurdles, a 1st place medal in the 400M hurdles, 5th place ribbon in the 200M and a 3rd place medal in the long jump. It was an excellent experience and a lot of fun for these future olympic hopefuls!
