Peshtigo Police Officer Gets Life Saving Award

Presentation of a life saving award to Peshtigo Police Officer Robert Hulce and introduction of two newly hired part time police officers by Chief Fred Popp were highlights of the Peshtigo City Council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Presentation of the award for Hulce was scheduled for the start of the meeting but was delayed because he was on duty that evening, and was out responding to a call.

Two Public Hearings were held prior to the Marinette Common Council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 1 for the purpose of receiving public comment on Plan Commission recommendations to allow a multi-family residential unit on Cheri Boulevard and to close a portion of Wisconsin Street. 

City Personnel Committee Okays Summer Help Options

The City of Peshtigo Personnel Committee meeting on Thursday, Jan. 27 began with Chairperson Debbie Sievert stating Parks and Rec Director Lori Tonn wants to get a headstart on hiring options for summer help for the Parks Department.  

Town of Peshtigo Water Listening Session Feb. 3

The Town of Peshtigo Water Committee being led by the Town Board will be hosting a public listening session at Little River Country Club, N2235 Shore Drive, Marinette on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. to address the PFAS contamination and provide the public with up to date information on the status regarding a long term water solution. The meeting can be attended in person, face mask encouraged, or via Zoom. The Zoom link can be found at the bottom of the town website home page: TownofPeshtigo.org 

Ten Fire Departments Respond To Middle Inlet House Blaze

Saturday Jan. 22 turned out to be a very busy day for the Middle Inlet Fire Department, according to Middle Inlet Fire Chief John Kleuskens. The department started out training for cold water rescue from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then responded to a structure fire in Middle Inlet at 11:39 a.m. 

Maki Sentenced to Jail For Wolverine Booster Thefts

No later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, Alicia Maki, 36, of N7579 Walleye Run, Crivitz, is to report to Marinette County Jail to begin serving a 90-day sentence with Huber privileges for what began as theft of more than $17,000 from Crivitz Wolverine Boosters during her brief term as treasurer in 2019.
The money has been paid back, but according to club President Mike Kudick the community has lost its trust, and the damage done to their organization continues.

Crivitz School Board Votes To Ease Quarantine Rules

Partly in response to pleas from district residents and partly in response to research done by Board President Amy Grandaw, Crivitz School Board on Monday, Jan. 24 agreed to ease its Covid Quarantine rules with the goal of allowing more students to spend more time in class.

The Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with local business, industry, and education partners, is once again presenting the Peshtigo Area Career, Education, and Community Expo to be held at the Peshtigo Middle/High School on Wednesday, March 9th from 12:30-3 pm. Ninth thru 12th grade students will have the opportunity to dive deeply into understanding all that the region offers for their future education, careers, and lives.

Enstrom Helicopter Closes January 21

Enstrom Helicopter Corporation regrets to announce that after 64 years of near continuous operations, Enstrom will be closing its doors on Jan. 21, 2022.  Due to several financial difficulties, Enstrom’s owners have directed the company to declare Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
