Oconto County Veterans Memorial Asks for Donations

Oconto County Veterans Memorial Corporation is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically to build a memorial to honor the KIA, MIA, and POW'S in all wars from the revolutionary war to present and to put other veterans that served but was not overseas in a war but either home preparing to go to war or for support. To show honor respect for all veterans from Oconto County that served in the military.
They further their purposes under this program by conducting the following activities:

Oconto Co. Vets Memorial Meat Raffle October 9th

Oconto County Veterans Memorial is having a meat raffle, 50/50 and basket raffle at Crivello’s Restaurant on Saturday, Oct. 9th from noon to 5 p.m. All proceeds go to the Memorial to put every veteran from Oconto County on the wall from Revolutionary war until present and for the future to come. Come and help build the Memorial for veterans in Oconto County. 

Gun Raffle Winners

The gun raffle held on Saturday, Sept. 11 by Crivitz VFW Post #2063 was a huge success, raising $4,000 which will be used to support area veterans, high school scholarships, and other programs conducted by the post. Raffle winners were JJ Charapata of Crivitz and Bob St. Louis of Oconto.  JJ won the AR-15 rifle and Bob won the AR-15 pistol.  Phil Haag, raffle chairman, would like to thank Scott and Brenda Busick for their support of the event along with Roger Kriedeman Jr., sponsor of the Auto Junkiez 4 Veterans car show for allowing the raffle to be held during their event.

VFW Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen Competition

Crivitz VFW Post 2063 is again sponsoring two essay competitions for area students. Patriot’s Pen is a written essay competition for youths in grades 6, 7, and 8 and gives students an opportunity to express their views on an annual theme. This year’s theme is, "“How Can I Be A Good American?”. The second competition is The Voice of Democracy. This is the VFW's scholarship program and is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial high school, or a home study program. This year's theme is “America: Where Do We Go From Here?”.

Middle Inlet Board Addresses Road Work, Town Hall Needs

At its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9, Middle Inlet Town Board approved a project suggested by Town Chair Richard Wade to re-do a portion of Wayside Road this year, and then leave it unpaved to settle so old stumps and logs under the existing road can work their way to the top and be removed before paving is done next spring. Wade said this would be the third and final segment of Wayside Road.

National Safe Walk to School Day Oct. 6th

The School District of Wausaukee will be participating in the National Safe Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 6that 7:45 a.m. at the end of Faxton St. In order for this to happen, it will take the whole community to pitch in. This includes the Village of Wausaukee, Marinette County Sheriff's Department, Wausaukee Rescue Squad, Wausaukee Volunteer Fire Department and Lamers bussing.

Athelstane Fire Department To Host Oct. 9 Open House

Town Chair Kelly Barnes reported at the monthly meeting of Athelstane Town Board on Tuesday, Sept. 14 that the garage built on Tetlow Terrace is indeed a garage.
