Damage caused to the Marinette County Highway Shop on County W just east of Crivitz by a fire in the wee hours of Friday, March 17 is barely visible from the road, but cost of necessary repairs to the building and replacement of damaged equipment could exceed $5 million, according to Highway Commissioner Eric Burmeister.
A garage and contents were heavily damaged by fire on Wednesday, March, 15 at the George Litts residence N1513 Harbor Road in the Town of Peshtigo. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department responded to the call at 5:39 p.m. Fire Chief Mike Folgert reported that upon arrival the garage was found to be heavily involved in fire so Folgert called for a MABAS working still alarm which brought in assistance for the City of Peshtigo Fire Department.
Bids for a planned 40’X60’ addition to the Town of Middle Inlet Fire Station on Hwy. 141 at the Town Hall intersection were opened at a special Town Board meeting on at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. After considering the bids, board members present - Supervisor Chuck Stanek and Town Chair Ron Wenzel - voted to accept the low bid totaling approximately $230,000 from Walters Construction Company of Lena, pending authorization from the public at a special town meeting that has not yet been scheduled.
Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue Auxiliary held a Christmas party for children who reside in Silver Cliff. Auxiliary members decorated the town hall, wrapped gifts, and prepared food prior to the event. The party is sponsored by auxiliary, Legion Post 66 and Unit 66, along with other donations. Funds from the bake sale supported purchasing gifts for all children that attended. The kids had the opportunity to choose hats, scarves, headbands, or mittens.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 Middle Inlet Town Board will meet in special session to open proposals for construction of a 40-foot by 60-foot addition to the fire station on Hwy. 141 next to the Town Hall.
At its monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 8 the board had set the bid deadline for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, and scheduled the Wednesday morning special meeting for bid opening.
Firefighters from the City and Town of Peshtigo Fire Departments worked together to save a three to four year old Australian Shepherd dog by the name of Calvin that had fallen through the ice in the middle of the Peshtigo River at the south end of Splake Street in Peshtigo on Monday, Dec. 5.
The 33rd Annual Peshtigo Fire Tower Run/Walk took place on Saturday, September 24th at Bulldog Stadium. A record total of 226 participants completed a 10K run or 5K run/walk the morning of Peshtigo Historical Day.
The City of Peshtigo Fire Department held a recruitment open house for those interested in becoming firefighters and emergency medical responders on Saturday, November 12 at station 2 on Pine Street. The department held two sessions one from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lunch was also served to those who attended.
Firefighters from five area fire departments battled a house fire in the Town of Peshtigo on Sunday, July 10. According to Town of Peshtigo Fire Chief Mike Folgert, the department received the call at 2:57 p.m., to the Ryan and Rebecca DeMarce W2253 Woodridge Drive.
Six area fire departments were called to a house fire at N5381 43rd Road in the Town of Beaver on Sunday, March 6. The Pound and Brazeau Fire Departments received the alarm at 12:27 p.m.
