Cross Country Peshtigo’s Rachel Nelson Takes First at Manawa/Symco Invite

Peshtigo sophomore Rachel Nelson topped a field of 55 runners at Tuesday’s Manawa/Symco Invitational in Green Bay.
Nelson finished the race in 20 minutes, 52 seconds, one second faster than second-place finisher Ava Lorenz of Shiocton.
Shawano would win the team event as their top five runners all finished in the top eight. Peshtigo was second.

Coleman Boys/Suring Girls Pick Up Wins at Lena Invite

Coleman’s boys and Suring’s girls picked up team wins at Tuesday’s cross country meet in Lena.
Suring’s girls were led by Olivia Noack, who was first of 31 varsity runners by over a minute, finishing in 21 minutes, 51 seconds.
Georgia Gerndt took fifth (24:00), Chantelle VandenElzen placed ninth (25:24), Hailey Thomson was 11th (25:49) and Ginger Gerndt placed 20th (29:07).
Coleman’s girls took second of four teams behind second and third-place finishers Desiree Nowak and Kiersten Jensen, who finished in 23:04 and 23:08, respectively.

Area Runners Compete in Mishicot & Oconto Invites

in Mishicot Invite
Oconto Falls, Oconto and Coleman competed at the 25-team Mishicot Bremser Invite on Thursday.
The boys’ results were split between small and large schools, while the girls’ scores were combined into one. 
Coleman’s boys finished fifth of 10 small schools, while Oconto’s boys were seventh.
Leading the Cougars was Karson Casper. The senior took 11th of 85 runners (17:55.6). 

Marinette Girls/Coleman Boys Take Silver at Border Battle

Marquette dominated the Marinette Border Battle Cross Country Invite on Saturday.
Marinette hosted a number of teams from around northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, with the furthest north team finding themselves highest in the standings as well.
Marquette’s girls occupied four of the top nine spots, while the boys were even more dominant, taking home the top four spots in the race, along with seven of the top 10 finishes.
