PESHTIGO – The Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual membership meeting on Tuesday, April 8. The meeting began with the chamber recapping the previous year’s events.
In April the chamber held a Senior Jump Start event at the Peshtigo High School. Chamber members spoke to the senior class about “what’s next” after they graduate. Topics in which they discussed were banking, credit and credit scores, loans, savings and investing, insurance, renting and home ownership.
The Senior Jump Start was held again most recently on April 16.
Working again with Peshtigo seniors, two $500 scholarships were awarded by the chamber.
Summer proved to be a busy month, with 62 participants bringing hundreds of visitors to the Peshtigo area rummage sale. This year’s rummage sale will be held on July 11 and 12.
In new event news, the first Food Truck Rally in Peshtigo was held last year. The chamber took advice from attendees and will have more food trucks, separate beverage booths, music, tents for shade and a bake sale from the National Night Out committee.
The 2025 Food Truck Rally will be held at Badger Park on Jun 4 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The chamber is currently looking for volunteers to help out with their yearly, and only, fundraiser at the Booyah booth during the annual Peshtigo Historical Day celebration. The group does everything from ordering supplies, making the broth, selling and cleaning.
In October the chamber held a scarecrow contest. For 2025 they are considering having individuals, groups or businesses decorating French St. in the downtown area.
Finally, in December they toured and learned about the renovations to the Peshtigo City Hall and Library. The Annual Community Christmas Event was also another successful event. Families and children met with Santa and Mrs. Clause, had professional pictures taken by DVL Creations Photography, saw the Studio 170 dance recital and partook in much more.
In general project news, the Peshtigo Chamber of Commerce, Peshtigo Women’s Club and City of Peshtigo Parks & Rec department hosted the “Do It For Dillon” EPIPEN training event. Over 35 people received training and certification to administer an EPIPEN safely.
The chamber also updated the Info Center into the Visitor Center with new signage, painting and landscaping.
Looking forward to the current year, the chamber discussed the start of the new fiscal year and yearly budget.
They presented their charitable contribution for the fiscal year. Some of these contributions include: $1,800 to Wild Goose Peshtigo River Kayak Group for apparel; $4,553.05 to the Peshtigo School District for the remainder of the kayak/fishing pier fund; $500 to the Peshtigo Senior Center; and many more.
New directors Danielle Berman, Tony O’Neill, Jackie Roubal, Casi Lark and Cassie Emmer were sworn in to their offices.
Lastly, the chamber is holding the 2025 Appreciation Banquet on Thursday, May 1 at Embers 1871. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m., a dinner of chicken, tips, sides and deserts will be served at 6 p.m. and awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
