Joanne Schutt

Joanne Dorothy Schutt, age 83, of Marinette, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area following a brief hospitalization. She was born November 3, 1942 to Norman and Dorothy (Beilke) Braatz in Granton, WI where she spent her early life. Joanne attended the Roder School from 1948 to 1956 and Granton High School from 1956 to 1960. After graduation she attended Stout State University from 1960 to 1962 where she met Donald Schutt. After their marriage, Don’s teaching career brought them to Marinette in 1969.

Joanne was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette where she was a member of the Sarah Circle, Women of the ELCA, Zion Fellowship Club and taught Sunday School. She was a founder of the Marinette Junior Woman’s Club, a member of the Marinette Woman’s Club, taught clothing classes for NWTC and was a dressmaker. She enjoyed sewing and knitting but most of all enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Together she and Don were active in the support of efforts to address World Hunger.

Joanne is survived by her children, Troy Schutt and Dawn Schutt-Vincent; grandchildren, Drake Schutt, Richelle Parrott and Gage Schutt; a great-grandson expected soon, Owynn Nathan; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Schutt; and a grandson, Nathan Vincent.

Visitation will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette on Saturday, July 25th beginning at 9 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Amanda Kossow officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
