Joanne Bryngelson

Posted

The Lord called Joanne (Beres) Bryngelson home on May 18, 2026. Born on March 27, 1955, in Racine, Wisconsin, Joanne lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and love for others.

To know Joanne was to love her. She had the kindest soul, the most generous heart, and a joyful spirit that made people feel welcome, remembered, and cared for. Her deep faith guided her daily life, and she met each day with gratitude, grace, and quiet strength.

Joanne found great joy in people. There was never a stranger who didn’t soon become a friend. There was never an appreciation or birthday she would miss. Family and friends could always count on a thank you note or birthday card with a McDonald’s gift card tucked inside — one of the many simple, thoughtful ways she showed her love. Joanne had a special gift for bringing people together. She loved being the social coordinator among her many friends and was always ready for an outing, a good meal, or a rummage sale adventure with her good friend Jim.

Joanne enjoyed the many years she worked at Goodwill and was an active member of her community. She was involved in Handicapped United, Bell Choir, Bible Group, NAMI and Holy Family Altar Society. She gave of herself freely and made her corner of the world brighter through her warmth, generosity, and friendship.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Beres and son-in-law, Michael Edler; her sister, Trudy Mastous; brother, August Beres and sister-in-law, Susan Beres; her sister, Cathy McCombs, and brother-in-law, Kent Umlor; along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and countless dear friends.

She is now reunited with her parents, August and Theresa Beres; her sister, Carolyn Umlor; her brothers-in-law, James and Dennis; and her nephews Nicholas and Matthew and niece Brielle.

Joanne was a fighter throughout her life and remained strong until the very end. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Luther Manor for their compassion and kindness in caring for Joanne, and to Bristol Hospice for their guidance and support.

Joanne’s legacy of love, generosity, faith, and genuine friendship will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on May 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2735 Taylor St., Marinette, WI. Visitation will be held beforehand beginning at 10:30 AM.
