Jeffrey “Jeff” L. Schomaker, age 66 of the Village of Hobart and the Village of Egg Harbor, passed away unexpectantly on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his Egg Harbor residence with his wife by his side.
He was born on December 31, 1957, to the late Werner and Rita (Benesh) Schomaker in Marinette, WI. Jeff was a 1976 graduate of Marinette High School. After high school, he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where he played football. He returned to Wisconsin and finished his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in business from St. Norberts University in De Pere.
He worked for WPS as an Energy Consultant until he retired in 2003. Jeff was united in marriage to Ingrid Marguerite Kress on November 24, 2001, at 1st United Church of Christ in Green Bay. His devotion and eternal love for his bride was unmatched to even the greatest love stories known to man.
Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed a good round of golf at Horseshoe Bay, Oneida Golf Club, and Desert Mountain Golf Club in Arizona. Being an excellent conversationalist, the golf clubs gave him a chance to socialize with his friends and make new friends along the way. He was known for his bigger than life personality and ability to make friends along the way, some would say it was his charm and “sass-tatic” personality drew people in, and others would say it was his down-to-earth personality. Either way, he was loved and will be missed by many. He was well known for being the “King of Smartassery” and the world’s biggest prankster. However, his family knew him as the world’s greatest, husband, father, and grandfather. His bride was his universe, his children were his world, and the grandchildren were the light of his life.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ingrid; children Tyler (Erin) Opichka, Tyler (Courtney Martine), Gretchen (Scott) Opichka, and Carly (Bill) Albert; grandchildren, Evelyn, Tiger, Ace, and Maverick; and siblings, Karen (Orin) Sandberg, Jackie Witter, Judy (Steve) Grace, Jean (Steve) Bouche, and Nick (Gail) Schomaker. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Rita Schomaker, and siblings, Jerry Schomaker and
Connie Behling.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Cremation Services is assisting the Schomaker family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Jeff may be shared with his family through his tribute page at
