Donald Schutt

Donald R. Schutt, 83, of Marinette, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area following a brief hospitalization. He was born June 16, 1941 to Arthur and Lillian Schutt in Harvard, IL where he spent his early life. Don attended North Dunham Township Country School, Central Grade School and graduated from Harvard High School. He went on to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stout State University. Don taught Middle and High School for 6 years before coming to Marinette in 1969 to join the faculty of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College as a machine shop instructor. He retired after 29 years of teaching at NWTC.

Don held a longtime interest in aviation and was a pilot and member of the Civil Air Patrol from 1975 to 1993. He served on the Tri-County Safety Council from 1972-1998 and also participated in SkillsUSA, a partnership of teachers and industry supporting the skilled trades, serving as State Post-Secondary Manager for Wisconsin from 1998-2000.

Don was also a devoted family man and loving husband, father and grandfather, taking a special interest in nurturing the lives of his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette and had served on the Church Council and Social Ministry Board. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors for the Northland Lutheran Retirement Community.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joanne Braatz; children, Troy Schutt and Dawn Vincent; grandchildren, Drake Schutt, Richelle Vincent and Gage Schutt; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nathan Vincent; and a brother, Robert.

Visitation will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette on Saturday, April 19th beginning at 9 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Amanda Kossow officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
