David Earl Fleischfresser, age 80, of Porterfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 31, 2026.
He was born to the late Carl F. Fleischfresser and Lillian A. (Hust) Fleischfresser. At the age of 22, David proudly joined the United States Army, honorably serving his country during his station in Germany. Upon returning home, he dedicated many years to working as a logger. He later joined his family's business, where he spent decades painting and roofing until his retirement at the age of 72.
Outside of his tireless work ethic, David loved fishing and hunting. When he wasn’t in the woods or by the water or on a ladder, he could almost always be found at home in his yard working on vehicles. He was a pillar of strength for his family and a constant, reliable presence in their lives.
David is survived by his loving children, daughters; Christa (Chris) Gorman, Rochelle Watruba, Chyla Penticuff and his son; William D. (Tomaszewski) Fleischfresser, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers; Richard Fleischfresser and Duane Woods; and his sister; Beverly (Fred) Lipinski.
He was proceeded in death by his father; Carl, his mother; Lillian, his brothers; Carl Jr. Fleischfresser (bff) and Arnold Fleischfresser, and his sisters; Rosemary Deastell and Violet Frehr.
David lived a full life defined by hard work, integrity, resilience and a quiet determination that earned the respect of everyone who knew him. His deep family devotion will live on forever.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
