Barbara and Roger McClellan

Posted

Barbara "Barb" (Perry) McClellan and Roger McClellan passed away together on Friday, August 7, 2026. They spent a lifetime side by side, building a marriage, a family, businesses, a home, and a life they loved together.

Barb was born December 15, 1947, in Daggett, Michigan, to William Perry Sr. and Ann Frances (Boshan) Perry. She graduated from Wausaukee High School and later attended UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point. As a young woman, Barb worked at Fort Howard in Green Bay and also worked alongside her father and brother, Butch, at the family business, Perry's All-Car Parts.

Roger was born in Daggett, Michigan, to Orval and Genevieve (Keim) McClellan. He was the seventh of eight children and graduated from Wausaukee High School. In his younger years, Roger worked in logging and construction. He also served in the U.S. Army, including time in Vietnam.

Barb and Roger were married on February 25, 1968, shortly before Roger left for Vietnam. Their early married years were spent in a small trailer in Amberg. Their son, Ronald Roger "Ron" McClellan, was born in 1970 and became one of the greatest joys of their lives. During those years, they also welcomed Roger's nephew, Mike McClellan, into their home, where he became part of their family.

Some years later, Barb and Roger purchased the home and property they loved atop "Cement Hill," north of Wausaukee. It was there that much of the life they worked so hard to build unfolded.

For many years they worked side by side at Roger's Service in Wausaukee, known to the family simply as "the station." Roger was an excellent mechanic who could fix just about anything. Barb kept the books, kept everything in impeccable order, and was the friendly face behind the desk. They also owned and operated Just Ducky car wash - known considerably less lovingly within the family as "the wash." Through the work, long days, and inevitable frustrations of running their businesses, what mattered most was that they were together.

At home, Roger spent countless hours working in their woods, raising beef cattle, hunting, and fixing everything and anything in "the shop." Barb was an excellent cook and baker, known for her apple dumplings, baked goods, beautiful birthday cakes, fancy holiday cookies for the library bake sale, canning, and her ability to make venison taste good.

In later years, Roger took up cooking and baking himself, with Barb nearby to supervise. Together they enjoyed the home and land they loved. They added a sunroom where they could watch the abundant wildlife around them. The birds and deer were treated more like friends than visitors; Barb could pet the deer, and some would even follow her into the garage.

Ron was one of Barb and Roger's greatest joys, and they were immensely proud of the man he became. Roger taught him how to build, fix and figure things out, while together his parents gave him an example of how to build a good life and a lasting marriage.

For 58 years, Barb and Roger worked, laughed, loved and lived side by side. Whether at the station, at home on Cement Hill, or simply enjoying an ordinary day together, they were happiest in each other's company.

Barb and Roger were preceded in death by their parents; Barb's brother, William "Bill/Butch" Perry Jr.; and Roger's brothers, Wayne, Dale, Earl, Roy, and Ralph McClellan.

They leave behind their much-loved family: their son, Ron, and his wife, Amy; granddaughters Alyssa and Rachel; nephew Mike McClellan, who held a special place in their family; and Roger's sisters, Muriel and Beverly. They will also be dearly missed by their extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives crossed theirs over the years.

Visitation and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Roubal Funeral Home, Wausaukee. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the service to follow, Pastor Lin Wittmann presiding. Burial will follow at Amberg Cemetery, with a luncheon afterward at the Amberg Community Center, N15035 Grant St., Amberg.

Ron and the family extend their heartfelt thanks to the Wausaukee and other responding fire departments, EMTs, emergency personnel, and the Marinette County Sheriff's Office for their compassion and care. A special thank you to Josh at Roubal Funeral Home for the kindness, compassion, and guidance he has shown our family.
