Women’s Group Donates to Peshtigo’s Rawhide Youth

On May 10, 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods presented a check for $3,000 to Rawhide Youth Services in Peshtigo.

This is one of three large donations from the women’s spring meeting that raised over $20,000 for local charities.

Members of 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods meet four times a year to select a local charity to receive a $10,000+ donation.  At the spring plus-one event, Rawhide Youth Services was two votes shy of obtaining the overall donation, however, it was a recipient of auction and raffle proceeds.

Cammy Grutza, a social worker with Marinette County Health and Human Resources and a member of 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods, nominated Rawhide Youth Services, saying “Rawhide is such an incredible, humble organization that welcomes youth in need of placement.”

Rawhide Youth Services is a faith-based 501(c)3 recognized charity that operates a group home for at-risk youth ages 13-17.  The group home is based off a family-living environment guided by live-in house staff, supervisors, and development specialists.  The group home focuses on independent living skills, personal strengths, instilling personal responsibility and identifying behavioral and emotional goals. Youth in the group home experience a safe, loving environment and healthy routine that helps build confidence and enable the healing process.  Rawhide’s group home in Peshtigo is unique in that it accommodates both male and female residents.

Rawhide presented the women’s group with a heartfelt thank-you note signed by the home’s staff and youth. Rawhide’s Living Unit Supervisor, Kyle Malke, explained the home’s excitement to accept the funds that will directly support the youth in the home and cover items such as haircuts, athletic shoes, prom admission, and extracurricular activities like music lessons.  “Everyone has one childhood.  The children here shouldn’t miss out on these things, and this donation will really help,” said Kyle.

100 Women Giving Back Northwoods considers organizations that make an impact in the community and have a 501(c)3 nonprofit designation.  They have given over $130,000 back to the community and will meet again on August 21.

Rawhide Youth Services group home in Peshtigo is having an open house on Tuesday, June 13 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the home, N2981 Schacht Road, Peshtigo.  This is an open event to the community to meet with the team and learn more about the important, life-changing work they do.
