William (Buck) Melton - Letter to Editor

I want an open government for our Town of Peshtigo, which I feel Jennifer Friday, Clarence Coble and Jimmer Wortner will provide, and that their agenda will be to work on all of the problems of the T.O.P, not just the water.

The Town is being run by one person. The other four on the board are good soldiers and always stay in line. This board had 25 secret meetings in the recent past. Residents appreciate knowing when big items are coming up and have a chance to have input. We don’t have that now.  It appears there is a lot of under the table dealing going on.

Previously supervisors took care of their own responsibilities. Now the board hires consultants to tell the supervisors what to do.

The supervisors don’t value our employees. One employee passed away & they never replaced him, just let the work go. They tried to beat the other employee in that department out of wages until it finally went public. Recent turnover for the treasurer’s position is terrible.  One lasted only a few days. We had a terrific treasurer who did all of the work herself, but finally left after promises were broken and the board impossible to work with. Now they hire new treasurers for fewer hours, more pay, and in addition have hired an accounting firm to take up the slack.

Current board members have their own personal agenda. We need a more transparent group of leaders who are looking out for the best interests of the T.O.P.  I cannot vote for incumbents who aren’t taking care of the towns business. Please join me in voting for new leaders for the T.O.P.

Town of Peshtigo Resident
