Tamera R. Chaney

Tamera R. Chaney, 41, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at her home after a courageous eight year battle with cancer. 

Born July 28, 1981 in Marinette, to Tom and Laurie (Joslin) Chaney, she completed high school and went on to receive a certificate in Entrepreneurship from Bay De Noc College. She then served in the United States Army National Guard for six years with one deployment to Iraq.

She fulfilled her bucket list of employment and life dreams in her 41 years on earth. She loved to cook and bake and started her own business “Simply Sweet Retreat”, but her daughters were her greatest accomplishment. She attended Carney Evangelical Free Church and served on the Menominee Animal Shelter Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Mercedes and Temperance Strahl; parents, Tom and Laurie Chaney of Carney, Mi.; two brothers,  Lucas Chaney of Carney, Mi. and Joshua (Andrea) Chaney of Wilson, Mi.; a niece, Bella Chaney; two nephews, Mason and Tatum Chaney and many aunts; uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert; paternal grandparents, John and Marge Chaney and maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Marilu Joslin.

Visitation for will be at Carney Evangelical Free Church on Monday, March 27 from 2 p.m. until time of Military Honors at 4:45 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service, with Pastor Kit Bogan presiding. A meal will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund to benefit her daughters will be established. Expressions can be directed to Laurie Chaney.
