Successful 5th Annual Equity Horse Trail Ride

For the 5th year in a row, hoofprints dotted the countryside east of Equity Park.  The Annual Equity Horse Trail Ride sponsored by Equity Club and hosted by Monica Halverson and Mike Zeitler took place over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4th and 5th.  Camping was also available.  Thanks to the very generous support of local landowners, riders could enjoy a twelve or eight mile ride departing Equity Ballfield weaving through woods, around water, over fields and along the Peshtigo River under a beautiful canopy of trees.  A halfway rest point provided by the Barrette family allowed horse and rider a place to stop and grab a bite to eat or simply enjoy the company and view.  Riders from near and as far away as West Allis, Waukesha, Hortonville, White Lake and even Louisiana traveled the route which can take upwards of three plus hours.
The weather held for the weekend event.  A vast amount of time and effort goes into the event each year.  This year, thanks to Dennis and Lori Gross and Tony and Brooke Kriescher, the trail allowed for less road time as an additional trail was completed through their wooded property.  Many riders commented on the wonderful condition of the trail and the well-marked directional signs throughout the ride.
On behalf of Equity Club, many thanks go out to Monica Halverson for her overall leadership on making the event occur; Mike Zeitler, Alice and Todd Polzin for their assistance in trail maintenance, use of equipment and on-site support; and Don Weed for his aid in building a new trail.  Additionally, thanks to Cindy Polzin, Jerry Champeau, Tyler Rich, Dan Joy, and Sharon Rich for their help posting directional signs and hanging ribbons so riders did not get lost.  Thanks to Jane Joy and Vonda Van Rossum for their assistance in registering the riders and horses.  A great thanks to Rosie Nowak for her preparation for the rest area, Mark Plamann for his generous donation of food and refreshments, and the hospitality of Mark Barrette.
This annual trail ride would not be possible if it were not for the landowners who graciously allow their property to be used for the trail.  A very special thanks to Mark Champagne, Allen Noll, Ken and Brenda Shevy, Jeff Zeitler, Mike Zeitler, Dennis and Lori Gross, Tony and Brooke Kriescher, Billy Winnekins, Monica Halverson, Glen Krueger, Mark Barrette and family, and the family of Tom Joy, Sr.
This trail ride is an annual fundraiser for Equity Club with proceeds being used for trail improvement and Equity Hall.  The 2022 Equity Trail Ride will take place on Labor Day weekend, September 3 and 4.
