Sheriff's Office Receives Drone Donation

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Faith Lutheran Church and Preschool of Marinette for their generous donation to their drone program. Through their efforts of fundraising, along with community support, members of Faith Lutheran were able to present a check to Sheriff Randy Miller on March 13 for the purchase of a new drone, equipment, and schooling in order to train deputies to pilot drones. With continued advances in technology over recent years, a new drone will be greatly beneficial in search and rescue situations for missing people. Search and rescue calls are often challenging due to the densely wooded areas and the terrain in the region. New drone technology offers a variety of cameras and options, which will allow the Department to survey the search area as well as detect h-eat signatures of people, even miles away. Without a doubt, this donation will drastically benefit search efforts when time is critical. Thank you again to all the members of Faith Lutheran, Jack’s Fresh Market in Menominee for allowing the church to bag groceries to raise funds, and community members who donated to make this project possible.
