Ronald J. Sutherland

Ronald J. Sutherland, 80, Green Bay, was called home on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at his home, following a lengthy illness. 

He was born November 26, 1941, in Peshtigo to the late Jack and Geraldine (Reha) Sutherland. Ron graduated from Peshtigo High School. He married the former Marilyn Deschaine on February 27, 1960, in Marinette. 

Following high school, Ron began a career in the propane industry in his hometown of Peshtigo. The same business took Ron to Viroqua where he continued in the propane business until becoming Chief of Police in Viroqua. He held that position for 14 years. Ron and Marilyn owned and operated a supper club before moving to Green Bay where he began employment in the propane industry once again, finally retiring as the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Propane Gas Association. 

A longtime member of the Moose Association, he achieved a Pilgrim’s Degree and was a Charter member of the Marinette Moose Lodge. He loved the outdoors, especially going up north with family and friends, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Ron is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their son, Steve (Suzie) Sutherland, Peshtigo and their daughter, Wendy (Chuck) Westby, Green Bay; four grandchildren: Nikkee (Dave), Erica, Jessica (Spencer) and Alyssa; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Josie) Sutherland, Chicago, IL; nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in law, Jim (Helen) Sutherland. 

Per Ron’s request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will take place in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette. Online condolences may be sent to Ron’s family at www.prokowall.com.
