Roger P. Shaffer

Roger P. Shaffer, 70, of Crivitz, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Born May 24, 1952, to the late John and Clarissa June (Witt) Shaffer, he enlisted in the United States Army in August 1972. He then returned to Crivitz and worked at Crivitz Lumber Company where he was well known and appreciated by many customers. He worked in the yard stocking and pulling materials for over 42 years until retiring.

An avid golfer, his collection of many first place trophies showed his talent. A member of the Men’s League at De Schmidt’s, Sundown and Hunter’s Glen Golf Courses, he followed PGA golf and was well versed in proper golf etiquette.

He enjoyed building replica military planes, tanks and ships, studied military history and was very knowledgeable about the hundreds of military models he built. A heart of gold, he enjoyed sending cards to friends and family and his acts of kindness brought joy to those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his only brother Mark J. Shaffer; three nieces, Lisa Shaffer, Sarah (GW) Dennis and Maren Bair; one nephew, Jasen (Heather) Shaffer and two great-nephews, Gunar and Ryder Shaffer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clarice Shaffer.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 808 Henriette Ave. in Crivitz  from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rev. David R. Schmidt officiating. A luncheon will follow at Saint Mary Parish Hall in Crivitz. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Crivitz is assisting the family.
