Robert S. Opsahl

Robert S. Opsahl, 71, of Marinette, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area in Marinette. 

Born May 24, 1950 in Wauwatosa, to Robert E. and Dora Opsahl, he moved to Marinette with his family at age 12 and attended local schools before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1968. He married the former Shirley Lee Wachal on Oct. 5, 1984.

He returned to Marinette after being discharged in 1970 and worked for many years as a truck driver, beginning with Dumke Forest Products and later Veriha Trucking, Waste Management and MJB Industries. After retirement he continued to drive with Taxi, Inc. Known for collecting recyclable cans and working with wood, he also enjoyed doing lawn work. 

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley; a step-son, Russell DeCamp of Marinette; two grandchildren, both of Marinette; a sister, Linda (Travis) Kipf of Porterfield; four sisters-in-law, Debbie (Don) Meyers and Pam Peterson, both of Menominee, Brenda (Ward) Griffith of DePere and Christy Quintana (Tex Lefebre) of Suamico; two special neighborhood boys, Grant and Nolan Van Cleve and his best friend, Mike (Linda) Chmela. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law; a son, Robert Opsahl, Jr. and a step-daughter, Tracy Lynn DeCamp. 

Per his wishes, no formal service is planned. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
