Robert C. Axtell

Robert C. Axtell, 90, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area in Marinette. 

Born May 13, 1931, to the late Floyd and Inez (Church) Axtell in Menominee, he attended Menominee schools. He then worked for the City of Menominee for 15 years, Krygoski Construction, owned and operated Axtell Trucking and also plowed snow for many years. On May 17, 1952, he married Elaine Rickinson in Menominee and she preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2017.  

He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, gardening, telling hunting stories and always kept busy. 

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Husbeck, Diane Anderson and Susie (Larry) Bushmaker; a brother, Dale Axtell; a sister, Beverly Bird; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Elaine, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 1 p.m. until time of a  service at 3 p.m., with Deacon Dave Denby officiating. Everyone is invited to Dexter’s following the service for continued fellowship. Burial will be in the Wallace Cemetery.
