Raymond Larson
Raymond “Ray” Larson, 93, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Cottages.
Born April 3, 1930, to the late Nels and Josephine (Andresen) Larson in Brooklyn, N.Y., he graduated from Hempstead High School in 1947 and earned a BA in Electrical Engineering in 1951 at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On Sept. 28, 1967, he married Lilla Piovera in Brookfield, Ct and she preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2021.
He worked in Ohio, Virginia, Connecticut and moved to Wisconsin in 1978 to work at Scott Paper as an Engineer and Supervisor. Prior to moving to Marinette, he worked making contributions to the Skylab Program for NASA. He was a past Ohio State Vice President of the Jaycees and member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Locally he was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, the Elks Club and past president of the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and stamp collecting.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Randy) Miller of Marinette; two sons, William (fiancé, Margaret MacManus) Larson and Steve (Barbara) Larson, both of Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Dawn (William) Vrastil of Lake City, Fla.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lilla, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard. Private Family services will be held. Entombment will be at Forest Home Mausoleum. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
