Public Hearing Aug. 12 On Middle Inlet Fire Ordinance

The monthly meeting of Middle Inlet Town Board on Thursday, Aug. 12 will include a public hearing on some proposed changes to Town Ordinance 42, which governs the Fire Department. The changes add to Police Power of the Department; Investigation of Fires; Fire Inspections and Fine for Non-Compliance; Fire Codes; and  Police Authority at Fires; Sec. B Fire Inspection Duties; Sec. C Fire Inspectors Handbook; Sec. D Fire Inspection Fine for Non-Compliance; Sec. E Fire Prevention Code; Hazardous Materials.

The town board is expected to approve the ordinance changes later in the meeting, and the new rules will go into effect on Thursday, Aug. 19 after being published in The Peshtigo Times on Wednesday, Aug. 18 and posted  at the official sites on Boat Landing Road and at the Town Hall at W7901 County X and the Fire Department next door at N9299 Hwy. 141. Full copies of the proposed ordinance are available in the clerk’s office at the Town Hall.

The board  will meet in the Clerk’s Office at 6 p.m. to review and discuss vouchers and then move to the main hall for the official 6:30 p.m. start of the monthly meeting, which begins with opening bids for the Camp 5 Road culvert replacement work, and possibly awarding the contract,  immediately followed by the public hearing and possible town board action on the proposed Fire Department ordinance changes. Later in the meeting the board is to act on a work easement agreement with a land owner in connection with the Camp 5 Road project.

  • The board is expected to approve setting garbage weight limits at 35 pounds, accept a proposal from All Things Broken for disposal of electronic recyclables, and renewal of the insurance policy with The Horton Group for coverage from Aug. 24, 2021 through  Aug. 24, 2022.

The board will be asked to approve Clerk Patricia Schutte’s attendance at the WMCA Conference in August and the WTA Conference in October.

Also on the agenda are a letter from Crivitz Rescue, consideration of a MABAS resolution for the Fire Department, Road Report, Planning Commission Report, Town Hall Report, Cemetery Report, Garbage & Recycling Report and an update on property maintenance issues.

There is provision for public comment as the last agenda item before adjournment.

Middle Inlet Town Board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with the board gathering first at 6 p.m. to review and discuss vouchers.
