Pine Needle Quilters To Meet March 20th

The Pine Needle Quilters will meet Monday, March 20 at the Town of Lake Hall on Loomis Rd. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for an open sew day. There will be a pot luck for lunch. The meeting will feature a class on making an ornament using Prairie Points. Cost for materials is $3. In addition, quilters need to bring 12 five inch squares of quilting fabric, theme colors or a mixture. Call Linda Rich 715-938-0224 if questions.

The March 20 quilt challenge will be to bring quilted items that used Prairie Points. The February meeting had a demonstration on making Prairie Points. Three ways were shown. Thank you to Linda Rich, Mary Ann Dal Santo and Debra Baumgart.

Also special thanks to Carol Olson for not only demonstrating how to make a tote bag, but she gave fabric to all quilters present to make one. Additional thanks to Diane for donating a design wall.

Fifteen 12-1/2 inch red and white blocks were made for the January Challenge. If anyone is interested in making one more, there would be enough to make a quilt of 4 blocks in width and 4 in length for a quilt at least 54x54 inches. Added borders would make the quilt bigger. This quilt could be a charity given quilt.

In a future monthly meeting a class on fabric painting will be offered. All supplies are provided. Cost is $10. Non-members are welcome to take the class.

At the March meeting a time will be set aside for showing quilts. Plus a table for give away quilt patterns, quilt magazines and books. At that time quilters can share tips and techniques for quilting.

Visitors are welcome. If questions call 715-927-2221.
