Pine Needle Quilters To Meet Feb. 20th

Pine Needle Quilters meet on Monday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake Town Hall on Loomis Road. It is an open sew day. Bring sewing machine and quilting projects. Ironing board and iron will be provided as well as a cutting mat and table.

Bring a dish to pass for a noon pot luck or if one prefers, bring own lunch.

The Prairie Point challenge will be postponed until the March meeting. The February meeting will have a demonstration on how to make Prairie Points for those quilters not familiar with that pattern and how to use them in quilting. In addition Carol Olson will teach tote making. Material will be provided.

The February challenge will be to finish a quilt UFO project started at least one year ago but never finished. If the unfinished project is a big one, to meet the challenge a quilter only needs to show progress.

Thank you to Debbie Baumgart for demonstrating and teaching the Folded Star ornament at the January meeting. She also showed and shared how to construct a stand up design board that could be folded to fit in a car for transporting to quilt retreats. Thanks also to CarolOlson and Linda Tarman for teaching how to make a flannel pillow case.

Joann Swick visited and has shown interest in  joining. Welcome Joann. Willow Olson accompanied her grandmother for the open sew day. No school in memory of Martin Luther King. She showed much interest in projects made by hand.

Six twelve inch red and white quilt blocks were turned in for the January challenge. Congratulations to those that met the challenge. Those who did not get their blocks finished can bring them to the February meeting.

As always there will be show and tell quilt projects. Plus a table for giving away quilt patterns, magazines, books and fabric.
