Peshtigo Police Recover Over $20,000 in Stolen Merchandise
Peshtigo Police Chief Fred Popp, reports that officers in his department recovered over $20,000 worth of merchandise stolen from a storage shed in the City of Peshtigo. The investigation began on Friday, March 24, when the owner of the storage sheds contacted police about locks being cut off several storage units. Peshtigo police investigated and discovered antique items were taken from the units.
On Saturday, March 25 at approximately 6 p.m., Peshtigo officers served a search warrant in the 200 block of North Lake Street in reference to the thefts. As a result of the investigation a 39 year old male was taken into custody on charges of burglary, theft of property and possession of stolen property. The individual is being lodged in the Marinette County Jail. A 21 year old male in the residence was arrested and transported to the Oconto County Jail on an outstanding warrant. A male juvenile resident was also cited for possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of nicotine. Charges of possession of stolen property and party to a crime were forwarded to the Marinette County District Attorney’s office for the 40 year old female resident.
A large number of stolen items were retrieved from the home. Once the items are processed Peshtigo Officers will work on getting items returned the their owners. The Peshtigo Police Department was assisted by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol in the execution of the search warrant. Chief Popp reminds residents if you see something unusual say something. He also said the successful investigation was a total team effort by members of the police department and was happy to be able to wrap it up so quickly.
