Peshtigo Continues Packerland Dominance

Bulldogs Take Two
from Eagles in
Packerland Matchup

Peshtigo showed some resilience to beat Southern Door twice on Friday, 4-3 and 12-6.
The Bulldogs scored two in the first inning after Allison Peters doubled and Nevaeh Russell reached on an error that brought Peters home. Russell later scored.
In the third, Russell singled and Bethany Ahrens hit a home run to score two more.
That 4-0 lead stood until the sixth inning, when the Eagle offense got going with the help of some Peshtigo control and defensive issues.
An error, single, and walk loaded the bases before an out was recorded. After a strikeout for the first out of the inning, a single and two walks would bring across three runs.
An infield fly brought the inning to an end with the lead still intact and the Eagles went 1-2-3 in the seventh.
“Southern Door is just a great program, traditionally. We knew coming in here that we were going to have to play as well and as hard as we can,” Peshtigo coach Matt LaCoursiere said. “We went up 4-0 and we sat on a lead again. We’ve got a tendency to get a little flat and I knew they weren’t going to go away, but the girls… got it done. They focused when they had to.”
In game two, Peshtigo jumped on Southern Door early. Peters, Russell, and Ahrens reached to lead off the game, with Jaci Tonn and Presley Plym each chipping in two-RBI hits to get the scoring started.
Three more runs in the second made it 7-0, but Southern Door kept fighting, scoring four runs in the third inning and two in the fifth to cut the lead to 9-6.
The Bulldogs kept slugging, with Russell at the heart of it. She had hits and scored in both the sixth and seventh innings, finishing with a three-hit, four-run game.
Ahrens scored three times as well and Peters scored twice.
Plym was 2-3 with two RBIs.
“Again we had another flat spell. That team is a good team. They’re not going to go away, and we have to learn that when we play with a lead, we have to learn to continue to score,” LaCoursiere said. “We have to get games done with, because against a good opponent like Southern Door, they’re going to come back. They’re not going anywhere and you’re in for a game.”
Allison Peters started the game in the circle for Peshtigo before giving way to Bethany Ahrens to close out the game.

Bulldogs Shutout
Tritons at Home 10-0

Three players scored two or more runs as Peshtigo beat Notre Dame 10-0 on Friday.
Allison Peters was hit by a pitch to start the game and immediately scored on a Nevaeh Russell triple in the next at-bat.
Peters scored three runs and slugged a three-RBI double in the fourth, which was a six-run inning to make it 7-0 Bulldogs.
“Their pitcher was throwing a little bit slower than we’re used to. We timed her up, we put seven up, and after that, we played our game,” Peshtigo coach Matt LaCoursiere said. “We scored when we had to, we had clutch hitting, and it was an overall good effort.”
Jaci Tonn was 1-2 with a walk, a run, and an RBI and Rylie Ellie was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Bethany Ahrens put the cherry on top in the sixth with a home run.  She was 2-3, also walking and scoring in the fourth and doing the pitching for the Bulldogs.
