Penelope J. Sanders

Penelope “Penny” J. Sanders, 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2021. 

She was born August 21, 1957 in Marinette to Fred H. and Jean (Goessling) Jaeger, Jr. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration. Penny worked at the Aerial Co. in multiple positions, learning the family business first in Marinette and then in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Returning to Marinette she was Director of Marketing Communications at Aerial and left that position to run her own family business, Lindsay’s Lawn & Landscape. 

Retirement included meeting and falling in love with the man of her dreams, Steve Sanders, who she married on June 30, 2007. They enjoyed ten beautiful years together, sharing their incredible faith in God, family and friends, before he preceded her in death in 2017. 

More than anything Penny enjoyed being a mom and grandmother and established a tradition of hosting “Grandma Day” once a week, creating special time and memories with her granddaughters. She also had a gift for developing friendships that rewarded her with cherished relationships, some from childhood on. 

Penny was a kind and caring soul whose character of personality gave her a special place among her sisters and brother and in her Church family. Her siblings loved spending time with her. 

Penny is survived by a daughter, Lindsay Butman (Ceej Kuehnau); granddaughters, Aleah Butman-Martinez and LilyAnn Kuehnau; sisters, Barb (Wayne) Kopish, Lori (Ryan) Hmielewski and Betsy Jaeger; a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Jaeger and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, Steve, she was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Jean Jaeger and a brother, Fritz Jaeger III. 

A funeral service in celebration of her life was held at Calvary Church, W1498 Hwy 64, Marinette at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 with Pastor Tim Hawthorne officiating. Mask wearing was required. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions in Penny’s name are suggested for the Menominee Animal Shelter. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family.
