Paul “Slick” Fillinger

Paul “Slick” Fillinger, 63 of Menominee, MI, born to Donald and Joan (Nerat) Fillinger passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022 from complications with lymphoma that had come back a second time, but this time with a vengeance.  Paul passed with his sister by his side as she has been since their parents passed away at such an early age.  It was just the two of them then.  Paul and Cindy were brother and sister by chance, but best friends by choice.  Paul was a great guy, kindhearted and would do anything for anyone if he could.  He was a 1977 graduate of Menominee High School.  Paul worked for Scott Paper for 18-1/2 years and later for the Menominee County Road Commission.

Paul had a passion for deer hunting and being in the woods at camp.  He loved his sister and his friends.  He was a true John Deere man and bled green and yellow.

Cutting the grass and snow blowing on his John Deere equipment was never work for him.  He loved it!  After every grass cut he would ask Cindy "did you check out the golf course"?  Paul further loved anything Michigan Wolverines.

Paul is survived by his sister: Cindy Fillinger; along with many good friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Joan Fillinger; maternal grandparents: Ignace and Frances Nerat; and paternal grandparents:  Robert and Madge Fillinger.

A celebration of Paul's life will be announced at a later date.  Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the Fillinger family with arrangements.
