Oconto Football Players Earn Packerland Honors

Four Oconto Blue Devils earned Packerland Football post season honors.
Kyle Bowman was a second team running back and linebacker in his junior season.
He ran for 804 yards and six touchdowns on 173 attempts and caught 12 passes for 80 yards. Defensively, he led the team with 60 total tackles. “Kyle started out the year playing quarterback. After 3-0 start the injuries forced Kyle to play running back,” said Oconto Coach Dave Ruechel. “He finished third in the conference with 804 yards and 6 TDs. He also led our tem in tackles this season. Kyle was our team MVP and is one of our leaders. He is one of the toughest players I have ever coached. I am excited to see him play next season.”
Senior Alex Fuller was an honorable mention offensive end and defensive back. He led the team with 173 yards receiving and 18 receptions and had four interceptions. “Fuller lead our teeam in interceptions with 4. Alex was also our leading wide receiver but had to play games at quarterback because of injuries,” said Ruechel. “I enjoyed coaching Alex over the past four years. He is a player that will do whatever you ask to help out the team.”
Ethan Wusterbarth was an honorable mention defensive back as a sophomore and junior Gage Bartlett was an honorable mention defensive lineman. “Ethan played most of the season hurt. He was somewhat healthy at the end and he became a dominant force in the defensive run game. Looking forward to a healthy season with Ethan next year,” said Ruechel.
Wusterbarth had 55 tackles and recovered a pair of fumbles. Bartlett had 36 total tackles and a sack. Coach Ruechel said, “Gage was our best defensive lineman, and one of the few that stayed healthy for us. when Gage brings it in the game he is a force to be dealt with.”
