Nine Suring Students In Summer Credit Recovery
At the Suring School Board meeting on Wednesday, June 8, Principal Zachara Beeksma reported that nine students are enrolled in the newly implemented Rural Virtual Academy for summer credit recovery and that Suring seniors received over $60,000 in athletic and academic scholarships. He highlighted that Lena High School graduated 25 students in May.
In action items at the 5:30 p.m. meeting the Board approved several technology expenditures, voted to approve compensation for the Cross Country Coach beginning with the 2022 season and approved WIAA Affiliation for the 2022-23 school year.
In the District Spotlight, Athletic Director Heidi Gerndt and Christine Sleeter spoke to the Board about Sleeter’s qualification and appearance at the State Track and Field Competition held in LaCrosse. Sleeter qualified to compete in two events, High Jump and Pole Vault. She tied for second place in the High Jump and achieved a personal record for her Pole Vault performance.
