Middle Inlet Revising Fire Department Fees

The regular monthly meeting of Middle Inlet Town Board at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9 will include a public hearing on proposed revisions to the fees charged by the town fire department as recommended by Fire Chief Jon Kleuskens, after which the board is expected to adopt the ordinance that makes the new fees official.

At the February Town Board meeting Kleuskens had proposed raising response fees from $150 to $300 per hour for each engine, from $75 to $300 per hour for each tender; from $75 to $150 per hour for the four by four truck; from $50 per hour to $300 for the heavy rescue unit, and from $8 to $25 per hour for fire department staff. If a fire call is not made to real estate in the town, but instead to personal property, such as a vehicle, the owner will be charged. There are no plans to charge for MABAS calls.

Full copies of the amended ordinance  can by obtained by making a request to the Town Clerk at 715- 854-3106 or W7901 County X, Middle Inlet or clerk@middleinlet.org.

If approved by the town board the revised ordinance will be published and posted on Wednesday, march 15, and the new fees will go into effect on Thursday, March 16.

Other business of the meeting, in addition to bill paying and reports, includes proposed Pontem Software for cemetery record keeping as recommended by Clerk/Treasurer Patricia Schutte, and approval of the 2023 lawn and landscape maintenance proposal.

There is provision for public comment, and there may be discussion and/or action on problem properties and certified survey maps.

The evening for town officials will start with a 6 p.m. Finance Meeting at which vouchers presented for payment will be reviewed and discussed prior to being presented for approval at the board meeting.
