Michael W. Monnier, Sr.

Michael (Mike) Wayne Monnier Sr., 77, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, in Crivitz.

Known as Roadkill, he was born to Arthur and Vivian (Lee) Monnier on May 9, 1945, in Kenosha and at age  17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Wright as a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. He served almost 4 years during the Vietnam War, earning a National Defense Medal. In 1967, he  married Eileen Schumacher and they had four children. He retired from Proctor & Gamble in Green Bay.

Divorced in 1982, he later married Karen McArdle in 1997 and gained three step-children. They were married 25 years but together for 40 years and when they retired, they moved to Crivitz.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, golfing, shooting pool, spending time with family and friends, but really enjoyed bartending for many years in his retirement. He was recognized by his George Carlin style ponytail and was never far from a stash of Hershey Kisses.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; seven children, Michelle (Bruce) Petrie, David Monnier, Tara (Duane) DeGuelle, Michael (Lori) Monnier Jr. and Francis (Sandy) McArdle, Missy (Randy Lallensack) McArdle and Jessica Kolbach; three sisters, Ann, Roberta and Martha; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Dan) Bertrand and Robin Butt; a brother, Arthur; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Donald and Patricia Bruyere; three sisters, Marilyn, Sharon and Phyllis; three brothers, Philip, Ronald and Raymond; a brother-in-law Wayne Butt and a son-in-law, Paul Bishop.

Per his request, no funeral services will be held, but instead friends and family are encouraged to raise a glass to celebrate all the good memories. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
