Marsha J. Behnke

Marsha Jean (Peterson) Behnke, 51, of Coleman, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 with family by her side.

Born Nov. 19, 1971, to the late Marvin and Delores Peterson, she graduated from Coleman High School in 1990 and worked at the Store in Lena for over 10 years until becoming a CNA. She also bar tended at the Green Lantern in Coleman for over 15 years.

An avid Sasquatch searcher, she loved helping and caring for people, enjoyed working the fireman’s picnic, sewing projects and experimental cooking for her husband, but mostly loved doing craft projects and spending time with the kids.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Tom Behnke; two step-children, Dennis and Chris Behnke; a grandson; three brothers, Marvin, Keith (Nancy) and Tim Peterson; nieces and nephews, Christina (Jesse) LeGrave, Cindy (Lance) Meyer, Katheren (Forrest) Dahlin, Jeremy Mentink, Suanne Peterson, and Jacob Peterson; great nieces and nephews Thor, Valkyrie, Maddux, Edlyn, Nathan, Bryan, Alex, Crystal, and Havana; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends, too many to list.

She was preceded in death by Gwendolyn and Elaine Peterson; a brother, Ed Peterson and a nephew, BJ Mentink.

Family will greet relatives and friends for a Celebration of Life at Equity Hall in Pound on Saturday, March 4 from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Coleman is assisting the family.
