Marines Claim First North Eastern Conference Crown

Marinette clinched the program’s first-ever North Eastern Conference soccer title with an 8-4 victory over Wrightstown on Thursday.
Sierra Schreiner notched a hat-trick in the conference-sealing win, adding an assist as well. Josie Smerchek scored two goals with two assists.
Bry Torkko had a goal and an assist and both Maci Monnette and Chloe Seymour scored a goal.
“We have some very talented soccer players. We worked hard on team culture all season and we improved as an overall team each game,” Marinette coach Allyson Price said. “We have a strong offensive team and rarely had a problem scoring.”
The Marines also held five teams scoreless this season, including four in conference action, one of which they will see again very soon.
Marinette (9-1-1 overall) earned a No. 4 seed in Division 3 and faces No. 13 Luxemburg Casco on Thursday, June 1. The winner of that game faces either No. 5 Waupun or No. 12 North Fond du Lac/Oakfield on Saturday, June 3.
The Marines won 4-0 when they played Lux-Casco on May 11.

Bulldogs Drop
Tight 2-1 Contest
on Late Goal by Clippers

Sturgeon Bay defeated Peshtigo 2-1 on Friday night on a late goal.
The Clippers led 1-0 at halftime, scoring close to the end of the game, but the Bulldogs’ first shot of the second half, an Audra Bauman strike, nestled into the back of the net to tie the game.
After three more shot attempts by Peshtigo and three saves from Bulldog goalkeeper Lucy Lemire, Sturgeon Bay finally broke through for the go-ahead goal and the score held, 2-1.

Bulldogs End Season
With 9-1 Trouncing
of Truckers

Peshtigo beat Clintonville 9-1 on Tuesday on senior night to finish the season on a high note.
The highlight of the night was for senior Sara Sasia, who scored her first career goal in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.
From there, Peshtigo would score five more goals in the first half to lead 7-1 at the break.
Sasia, Kayla Murphy, Lorelei Maxwell, and Aiyah Farghali each scored one goal. Murphy also had an assist.
Audra Bauman scored three goals with two assists and Brooklyn Phillips scored twice.
“Cassie Flett and Brenna Fischer played strong defense all night, holding Clintonville to one score and minimal shots,” Peshtigo coach Jessie Carriveau said. Bulldog goalkeeper Lucy Lemire was forced into just two saves.
The Bulldogs finished the season 10-5-2.
“We have some really great players and more importantly, great young women that deserve more recognition,” Carriveau said.

Bulldogs Rally for
Draw With Spartans

Peshtigo came back from a 2-0 deficit to take a draw off Luxemburg-Casco in soccer action on Monday.
The Spartans scored once in the first half and made it 2-0 in the second, but goals from Ella Maxwell and Audra Bauman tied things up.
Bulldog goalkeeper Lucy Lemire had 10 saves, including four in the second half. She was not forced into any saves after the second Lux-Casco goal, however, as Peshtigo tightened up defensively.
Peshtigo attempted 24 shots in the game.
