Macy E. Berzsenyi

Macy E. (Gibson) Berzsenyi, 87, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at home.

Born Dec. 14, 1935 in Smokemont, N.C., to the late James and Hettie (Roland) Gibson, she graduated from Whitmire High School in South Carolina. She married Robert Berzsenyi on May 23, 1958 in Georgia and they moved to Stephenson, Mi. in 1959. She worked at Angeli’s in the kitchen for many years. She loved time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and cooking.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, Robert, she is survived by seven children, Pattie (John) Starzynski of Stephenson, Janet (Terry) Lenca of Daggett, Wanda (James) Furlong, Jim (Shiela) Berzsenyi and Mary Berzsenyi, all of Menominee, Judy McClure of Marinette and John (Heather) Berzsenyi of Alabama; two sisters, Loretta Lanier and Mary Alice Nelson, both of Whitmire, S.C. and a brother, Edward Gibson of Whitmire, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Birdell Williams, Pauline Nelson and Betty Berzsenyi; a brother, Arthur Gibson; a grandson, Stephan Berzsenyi and a great-grandson, Trever Francour.

Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Friday, May 26 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at noon, with Pastor Dan Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
