Lena School Greenhouse Is Open Through May 27

At its meeting on Monday, May 8 Lena School Board approved teacher and support staff contracts for the 2023-2024 School Year as presented, and accepted the resignation of Family and Consumer Science/Health Teacher Erin Jahnke at the end  of the current school year.

Board members Charles Imig, Timothy A. Goldschmidt, Ed Huberty and David McNurlen were present for the meeting along with District Administrator/ Elementary Principal Ben Pytleski and High School Principal Matt Hanson. Board President Lori Dufek was absent.

Teacher and support staff contracts for the 2023-2024 school year were approved as presented, and the board accepted the resignation of our Family and Consumer Science/Health Teacher Erin Jahnke at the end of the 2022-2023 School Year as presented.

The 2023 Summer School Schedule/Offering was approved as presented.

The board discussed the pros and cons of artificial intelligence in the classroom, but no action was taken and none was expected.

Hanson reported that “Electrathon” had a great weekend, Car 188 got Third in braking, Third in Design, and First in Endurance and then set the course of record for laps. Car 187 got Third in Braking and then Car 186 got First in Endurance. They were heading to Road America on May 15 and 16.
Forensics had some State Placements.

Hanson mentioned upcoming events including the Honors Banquet, FFA Banquet, and then Graduation, and said they had a few new Open Enrollments.
Pytleski reported the last day for students will be Friday, June 2, with an early release at 1 p.m.

Pytleski said the Spring Concert had drawn a huge crowd.
Staff Appreciation had been the previous week.

St. Anne’s rent increased slightly for next year.
Green house was to be open on Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon from May 9 through Saturday, May 27.
