Progress continues on implementing Long-term Water Solution?
You may have read the recent ads from Tyco/JCI regarding their efforts around a Long-Term Water Solution for those impacted by PFAS contamination. Referred to as “well owners in the potable well sampling area (PWSA)”.
Their ads report the extensive outreach to well owners about 2 specific options (deep wells or annexation to City of Marinette). The ads refer to time frames and dates residents have to respond regarding these options. If you are a well owner in the PWSA please don’t rely only on this information in these ads to make your decision on a Long-Term Solution for clean water. You owe it to yourself to consider this..... why is Tyco/JCI pursuing only these 2 options? While Tyco/JCI’s ads talk about the percentage of residents preferring deep wells or annexation many have expressed dissatisfaction with have to choose between a bad choice and a worse one. Neither of these 2 options offered are palatable! In reality, if given a choice, many residents would choose a lesser disruptive option.
What about water from the City of Marinette without annexation.
Tyco/JCI pays for construction and connection of residents to City water system.
No cost to City of Marinette taxpayers.
Long-term income stream to the City (Marinette currently only utilizes 40% of their capacity).
Win/win for well owners in the PWSA and the City of Marinette taxpayers!
Further, WDNR has already determined deep wells are not a viable solution for most well owners in the PWSA.
