Kayla Furton - Letter to Editor

Dear Editor:

Every election is important and the Town of Peshtigo’s April election illustrates that as three of five board positions will be decided – it is essential that residents are informed and vote! I am thankful to have served with the current board and see the integrity, work ethic, and dedication to the whole Town exemplified in each current member. While I could detail each person’s work and character (including Supervisor Baur’s efficient leadership at the Recycling Center saving approximately $35,000 in operating expenses, her Personnel Committee ensuring quality personnel, and her personal commitment to resident advocacy), today I write to wholeheartedly endorse Cindy Boyle for Town of Peshtigo Chairperson. I have had the opportunity to see Cindy intentionally and tirelessly advocate for our community for the past five years, the past two years serving as vice chair to her TOP Chair. Cindy not only brings passion, expertise, and the intentional coordination of resources to water advocacy but to ALL aspects of Town business. She has increased resident engagement through committees of community members that provide input and expertise in all areas, as well as a new Town website that features information, update sign-up, input submission, and soon, a new records search feature. Cindy has spearheaded efforts that have led to a balanced budget (with lowered taxes) and over $2 million in grant funding obtained for the Town. Under her leadership, the Town is positioned with multiple viable long-term safe drinking water possibilities for ALL residents currently impacted by PFAS contamination, along with a team of experts assembled to leverage all available state and federal funds (while also holding the responsible party accountable). In order to maintain AND advance Town services interests (all within budget), a large amount of teamwork, communication, and planning is required – areas in which Cindy excels. Professional capital improvement planning has begun and will ensure that not only immediate Town and Fire Department needs are met (such as the new Fire Engine), but that future growth and needs are not only considered but planned for as well. Cindy seeks input and guidance from her team and experts, while also meeting differing viewpoints with respect. I will be voting for Cindy Boyle for Town of Peshtigo Chairperson because I have seen her work, the results, and her character and THAT is what I want leading our Town.
