Karen Calewarts

Karen (Poels) Calewarts, 79, of Amberg, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

Born in Green Bay on May 10, 1943, to the late Clarence and Evelyn (Deneys) Poels, she graduated from Pulaski High School in 1961 and married Roger Calewarts in 1962. For many years they lived in Sobieski before moving to Amberg in 2004.

She loved tending to her rose bushes at home, trout fishing and enjoyed feeding everyone, always making much more than needed. She also had an extensive Precious Moments Collection in which she adored.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Roger; two children:  Troy (Gina) Calewarts and Tammy Brown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one on the way and three siblings, Gerald (Shirley) Poels, Don (Muriel) Poels and Mary (Steven) Dashnier.

Visitation was held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Amberg on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. David Schmidt presiding. Burial followed in the Amberg Cemetery. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
