Jewell Hemminger

Jewell Odell (Bryant) Hemminger, 99, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in Marinette.

Born July 7, 1924, in Beebe, Ar., the fourth of seven children, to William and Molly Bryant, during World War II she moved to Little Rock to work in a munitions plant where she met her future husband, Rodney Hemminger of Marinette, when he was stationed at Camp Robinson. They married Nov. 11, 1945 in Marinette where they lived the rest of their lives and he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2022.

An employee of the Sears Store in Marinette, she worked in the hardware department for over 20 years. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, knitting, spending winters in Lake Havasu, Az. and gathering at Anderson’s Breezy Point with extended family and friends.

She is survived by three children, Bruce (Mary) of Cedarburg, Dan (Mary) of Green Bay, and Debra of Little Chute; two grandsons of Milwaukee; a brother, Horace Bryant, Yuma, Az.; a sister, Clara Ibbotson, of Sherwood, Ar.; three sisters-in-law, Annette Anderson and Leora Delgoffe, both of Marinette, and Joan (Don) Strojny of Peshtigo; nieces; nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Cecil Bryant, Gladys Hite, Lois Akridge and Willo Dean Parsley Palmer; eight brothers-in-law, Jack Anderson, Lloyd Vieth, George Hemminger, Roger VanCourt, Clem Bintz, Robert Delgoffe, Buddy Schmitt and Henry Campbell and six sisters-in-law, Elvira Vieth, Anita Hemminger, Arlene Bintz, Joyce VanCourt, Helen Campbell and Dolores Hemminger.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. until noon at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette, followed by the funeral service officiated by Rev. Josh Frailing. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran School are appreciated.
