Jennifer Kruse - Letter to Editor

My name is Jennifer Kruse and I’m running for a seat on the Suring School Board for the Town of Breed. I am writing this letter to tell you about myself, share my reasons for running for the school board, and ask for your support in the upcoming election on April 2.

I grew up in Riverview where I attended Mountain Grade School and graduated from Suring High School. I moved to Breed and married Nick Kruse in 2012. We have three sons ages 14, 12, and 7, our oldest attends in-person at Suring Public School District. Our two youngest are virtual students through Rural Virtual Academy which is part of Suring Public School District. For most of my adult life, I have worked in healthcare in the office and field serving families in Oconto County and beyond. Throughout the years, I have become a strong advocate for those who are not able to advocate for themselves. Most recently I have volunteered in the 4-year-old kindergarten classroom at Suring School for an entire school year and now am a home mentor with Rural Virtual Academy for the last two years.

My decision to run for school board is based on my dedication to kids and their educational rights. I believe all children deserve an inclusive setting as well as a safe and nurturing learning environment. Our children will be active within the district for the next 11 years and I believe having children in different school versions and being the parent of a medically complex child allows me to offer an insightful perspective. Every day I strive to learn and have a realistic view of what happens in and out of our school.

My main goal for the district is to continue on the path of positive advancement in a fiscally responsible way while continuing to make strides in education, safety, and experiences for students and staff. Being on the board means working towards the betterment of the entire district and working on behalf of your family, friends, neighbors, and our community.
