Jennifer Friday - Letter to Editor

When TOP Chairperson Boyle was a mere candidate she released a press statement: “I would like to . . . provide a more open and inclusive style of leadership . . . We need more transparency and accountability in the way we make decisions, handle Town affairs, and work with the public. TOP residents deserve to have a voice in decisions . . .”
Campaign promises versus reality: 1) 25 closed sessions in 19 months (open, transparent leadership?), 2) refused to include residents on committees due to opposing views (inclusive?), 3) failed to disclose the unsuccessful BIL roads grant (accountability?), 4) will not commit to a referendum for the proposed  Water Utility District (resident input?).
If you do not agree with the TOP board you risk being on the receiving end of retaliation, of which I have experienced firsthand when my name did not elicit a single motion for approval as election inspector. Why? The answer was provided during the recent Water Committee meeting. Supervisor Kowalski does not agree with my petitioning for Annexation. Supervisor Furton considers my records requests and sharing of information in the Town of Peshtigo – Community Facebook group harassment. Chairperson Boyle stated 1) I filed a complaint with the Department of Administration as Chair Boyle arbitrarily removed me from the CDBG committee which went against the Citizen Participation Plan AND 2) concern for election integrity if my petition for Annexation was successful with a subsequent referendum. ALL board members need to read up on retaliation and abuse of power . . . and election regulations that would have prevented me from working an election in which I may have a vested interest.
But wait, there’s more! Ironically the same day there was a Closed Session Board meeting during which I was locked out of the Town Hall, the following individuals filed a personal injury lawsuit against Tyco: Chuck and Cindy Boyle, Dean and Kayla Furton, William and Cynthia Verschay, Jeffrey and Jessica Clochesy, Brian and Rebecca Bozelka, Gary and Theresa Bearson. Clean water for everyone, personal injury litigation for the select few. No mention of the litigation during the recent Water Committee meeting, maybe because it’s not related to Town business? Neither was the EPA Super Fund petition by Jeff Lamont and Cindy Boyle (NOT in her official Chairperson role). Also, are we sure it’s NOT related to Town business?  The SAME attorney who filed the complaint for the Town litigation against Tyco on 10/18/22 also filed the complaint for the individuals’ personal injury litigation on 11/23/22.
Transparent? Open? Inclusive? Accountable? In my opinion it’s more like unethical, shady, immoral with a whole lot of conflict of interest sprinkled on top.
